Police in the West Midlands in England today said nearly 200 kilograms worth of drugs with value possibly as great as £30 million (about US$49 million or €36 million) has been seized from a unit in the town of Brownhills. In what an officer described as “one of the largest [seizures] in the force’s 39 year history”, West Midlands Police reported recovering six big cellophane-wrapped cardboard boxes containing cannabis, cocaine, and MDMA (“ecstasy”) in a police raid operation on the Maybrook Industrial Estate in the town on Wednesday.
The impact this seizure will have on drug dealing in the region and the UK as a whole cannot be underestimated | ||
The seized boxes, which had been loaded onto five freight pallets, contained 120 one-kilogram bags of cannabis, 50 one-kilogram bags of MDMA, and five one-kilogram bricks of cocaine. In a press release, West Midlands Police described what happened after officers found the drugs as they were being unloaded in the operation. “When officers opened the boxes they discovered a deep layer of protective foam chips beneath which the drugs were carefully layered”, the force said. “All the drugs were wrapped in thick plastic bags taped closed with the cannabis vacuum packed to prevent its distinctive pungent aroma from drawing unwanted attention.” Police moved the drugs via forklift truck to a flatbed lorry to remove them.
Detective Sergeant Carl Russell of West Midlands Police’s Force CID said the seizure was the largest he had ever made in the 24 years he has been in West Midlands Police and one of the biggest seizures the force has made since its formation in 1974. “The impact this seizure will have on drug dealing in the region and the UK as a whole cannot be underestimated”, he said. “The drugs had almost certainly been packed to order ready for shipping within Britain but possibly even further afield. Our operation will have a national effect and we are working closely with a range of law enforcement agencies to identify those involved in this crime at whatever level.”
Expert testing on the drugs is ongoing. Estimates described as “conservative” suggest the value of the drugs amounts to £10 million (about US$16.4 million or €12 million), although they could be worth as much as £30 million, subject to purity tests, police said.
Police arrested three men at the unit on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug. The men, a 50-year-old from Brownhills, a 51-year-old from the Norton area of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, and one aged 53 from Brownhills, have been released on bail as police investigations to “hunt those responsible” continue. West Midlands Police told Wikinews no person has yet been charged in connection with the seizure. Supplying a controlled drug is an imprisonable offence in England, although length of jail sentences vary according to the class and quantity of drugs and the significance of offenders’ roles in committing the crime.

“Total chaos” is how many described the melee that resulted from a sale of used Apple iBook laptop computers at the Richmond International Raceway (RIR) by the Henrico County, Virginia school system.
Officials estimated nearly 5,000 people thronged the sale for the $50, four-year-old computers. Among them were 17 injured, four requiring hospitalization – one for a leg injury, and three for heat-related illness, said Henrico County Police. Reports of trampling in the stampede were not uncommon, and one driver reportedly tried to drive through the throng of prospective buyers.
Alice Jemerson, an elderly customer said, “They bum rushed the gates and I was knocked over, fighting for my life. All these people were on top of me.”
Shortly after 7am EST officials opened the gates and many residents ran hysterically toward the building where the sale was to occur at 9am.
At a post sale press conference, Henrico County Police spokesman Lieutenant Doug Perry told reporters, “A few bad apples found their way inside. It looked worse than it was.”
Apple iBooks are the preferred computer for Henrico County schools, and Director of General Services of Henrico County Paul Proto, said changes were made to the event after tremendous interest was generated, some as far away as Europe and California. Officials closed and moved the sale from the Henrico county school warehouse to the RIR, after residents complained that their tax dollars were used to buy the computers, and they ought to have first right to repurchase them. The Henrico County Board of Supervisors voted to amend the County Code so that only residents could purchase the laptop computers.
Although officials had prohibited camping out and overnight parking, some in attendance reported that people began arriving at midnight.
Henrico Police Chief H.W. Stanley, Jr. said five patrol officers were originally planned for the event, a customary presence for an event the size authorities had estimated. But by 6 am, an enormous crowd was assembled at the front gate.
Officials present before opening told the crowd that automobiles would be allowed to enter first, which prompted many to run to their cars. But while some were running back to their cars, others rushed the gate. The resulting confusion created much anger, and guards closed the gates shortly thereafter.
Long lines encircling the sale building were commonplace, and one observer noted, “They’re going to see themselves on the news tonight, and see what fools they are.”
Some citizens, however, considered their wait worthwhile. Hairstylist and mother of two Sheress Blunt was one of the first hundred to buy one of the iBooks; she came with her mother and said they sneaked into the raceway through a side gate.
Tonya Vaughan arrived at 5:30 a.m., also bought one of the first iBooks and said three people offered to buy it from her for as much as $200. She declined however, saying, “I told them no way! I had worked too hard for it.”
Lt. Perry said many officers were complimented on the way they handled the crowd, adding that police were seen letting children who had been pushed aside, into the building.
Mr. Proto said, “There are no plans right now to have another iBook sale.”
Henrico County Battalion Police Chief Steve Wood said no arrests were made and the iBooks were sold out by 1pm EST.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon underwent emergency surgery at Hadassah Medical Center in Israel to treat intestinal damage revealed by a recent computed tomography, better known as a CT scan. The Chief Surgeon said, “Sharon is out of danger, for the moment. His condition is stable and the surgery was a success.” Sharon is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
Yesterday doctors treating Sharon had noticed a swollen abdomen and ordered a CT scan on his torso and found the damage to his intestine. Later tests had shown that part of the large intestine had developed necrosis and needed to be immediately removed.
Hospital director Shlomo Mor-Yosef stated a press conference that there were “no complications” during surgery. “His (Sharon’s) key problem is lack of consciousness. There is no significant change in his condition. Doctors did not find any occluded artery and there were no blood vessels blocked. He is stable but in critical condition at this time and he is in no immediate danger at this moment.”
Yosef also said that Sharon’s sons and family had met earlier and decided to go forward with the surgery and treatment.
Doctors removed at least 50cm of Sharon’s large intestine.
Yosef also said that possible reasons as to why Sharon’s intestine was damaged were, “maybe infection or decline of blood supply to the intestine.” Yosef also said that the surgery was both a “routine procedure” and “not a dramatic” one. “Hospitals perform these operations sometimes two or three times a day,” he added.
Yael Bossem-Levy, a spokesman for Hadassah Medical Center said earlier that, “the prime minister’s life is in danger. His condition is now very serious, or critical. Sharon’s digestive tract has undergone severe deterioration while he’s been unconscious, and there appears to be a blockage in his blood circulation. The restricted blood flow raised the possibility of necrosis, or death of tissue, in the intestines.”
Levy also stated that Sharon’s condition has “deteriorated to its most critical point since his admission.”
The 77 year-old leader has been hospitalized since January 4th, after suffering a massive stroke which left him comatose. This is his seventh surgery since his hospitalization.
Sharon has been hospitalized for thirty-nine days, and has been on a feeding tube for two weeks.

At least two people have died and at least eight to ten were injured after two semi trucks collided in a truck tunnel on Interstate 5 (Newhall Pass) between Los Angeles and Santa Clarita California, United States, causing the tunnel to be completely shut down on both north and southbound lanes.
At approximately 11:00 p.m. (pacific time), two semi trucks collided and at least 13 other trucks smashed into the wreckage causing a massive fire. Firefighters are using foam to control the flames, which could take several hours to put out.
Officials say that the debris could take a day or more to remove and that a full inspection will have to be done on the tunnel before it can be used again because officials say that the structure of the tunnel has been compromised.
“It has impacted the structural stability of the tunnel,” said John Tripp the Fire Chief for Los Angeles County who also said that there may be more people trapped in the wreckage.
“We’re going to have to do a very methodical search. There could be unfortunately more people that were not able to escape,” added Tripp.
The tunnel is 200 feet long.

Sincethe beginnings of recorded history, there is evidence that manual pleasuring a healthy, natural activity in both men and women has been frowned upon, oreven downright forbidden, as an act that can cause physiological and/orspiritual damage. It is not the aim of this article to address the moral issuesrelated to self-pleasuring, as these are highly individualized. On the otherhand, many men have been exposed to an endless mythology about everything thatcan go wrong due to manual pleasuring, leading to feelings of guilt or fear inmen who engage in the practice. Here, some of these myths are addressed, withan explanation as to why they are simply not true; and in addition, we offersomemale organ caretips for keeping things healthy.
Myth#1: Manual pleasuring causes blindness
Theidea that self-stimulation can lead to loss of sight is centuries old. It islikely that this myth grew up around a need to discourage children fromexperimenting by threatening them with terrible consequences, but there is noscientific evidence linking the practice to blindness.
Myth#2: Manual pleasuring causes hair loss
Thisnotion may seem reasonable on a certain level. Self-stimulation, as well aspartner relations, is linked to increased levels of androgen, which are in turnlinked to male-pattern baldness. However, while theurgeto get off is linked to androgen, theact itself does not increase androgen levels in the blood, and therefore, arguing that self-pleasure causes baldness is misleading.
Myth#3: Manual pleasuring causes excessive hairgrowth
Thenotorious hair-on-the-palms rumor likely falls under the same category as theblindness myth. It is easy to see where a male would be discouraged fromexperimenting if he were afraid that the evidence would be plainly visible toeveryone. However, if this were the case, then most men would have hairy palms, and it is a safe bet that anyone reading this article would be among them.
Myth#4: Manual pleasuring causes infertility
Aswith the idea of hair loss, it might seem to make sense that spilling seedthrough manual pleasuring would lead to a loss of fertility. It is true thatright after release, a man will not have has many swimmers in the reservoirs, but the supply will quickly rebuild itself. In fact, the use it or lose itprinciple applies here, and men who do not take the opportunity to releaseevery so often may actually have fewer reproductive cells than those who takeadvantage of the occasional alone time.
Myth#5: Manual pleasuring causes weakness
Insome cultures, the release of male fluid (without the benefit of a femalepartner) is viewed as weakening a man, and those who do engage from time totime may believe that any feelings of fatigue or illness are related to theirexperimenting with self-pleasure. Again, no scientific link has ever been foundbetween weakness and manual pleasuring, so it is likely that any relatedphysiological problems are really all in an individuals head.
Caringfor the manhood and preventing manual pleasuring-related issues
Whilemanual pleasuring is certainly normal, and many of the stories told to preventmales from exploring their bodies simply are not grounded in fact, men canexperience some adverse side effects of self-pleasuring IFthey do not exercise some precautionsand engage in adequate male organ care.
Vigorousmanual stroking creates heat and friction, which can leave the skin feeling rawand chafed. Over time, this causes a thickened, protective layer of skin todevelop that can dull sensation and make it more difficult to experiencesensory pleasure. In addition, hard pulling or lying on a bed or pillow toself-stimulate creates a risk of bruising and other injury. In order to preventthese issues, a more gentle approach is recommended, and an appropriate lubricantshould be part of every session.
Toavoid friction injuries and reduce the risk of lost male organ sensation, ahigh qualitymale organ health creme(health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil)can be applied tothe skin on a daily basis. Using a moisturizing, vitamin-rich cream as part ofthe daily male organ care regimen is a good way to improve overall male organhealth so that every experience solo or with a partner is more satisfyingand fulfilling.

Photographs published by the Investigate magazine and the newspaper Sunday Star Times has shown the Prime Minister of New Zealand Helen Clark’s husband, Peter Davis, being hugged and kissed by openly gay Auckland GP (General Practitioner) Dr. Ian Scott on election night 2005. The editor of Investigate, Ian Wishart, stated that at no time has Investigate ever suggested Davis is gay.
Wishart said that he has “Been targeting Mr Davis for months and has appealed for readers to send him details of his private life. [My] article makes no homosexual inferences and is merely an attempt to background Davis ahead of reports to follow.”
Investigate has been publishing a series of stories involving Davis about an alleged incident overseas. They were tipped off by New Zealand law enforcement. “The picture is all about trying to find out more about the alleged incident. [I am] working through overseas sources to investigate the allegations. Regardless of what his investigation uncovers, the results will be published.” Wishart also says there is more ‘dirt’ to come.
Clark has called it a “pack of lies” and labelled it as a smear campaign. “I’ve been aware of a smear campaign circulating for many months. Actively circulated by National Party people. And I’ve had countless friends phone me about it. It’s been assiduously spread through circles in business, the law, accountants – it’s just come from all quarters.”
Dr. Scott is a close friends of the couple and was, according to Clark, “reasonably boisterous and drunk,” when the situation occurred and Davis was “a bit disgusted,” when he was kissed. “We have a particularly small group of very close friends . . . and Ian is right in there. He is one of our oldest friends as a couple. There is not a shred of truth to what Wishart says,” said Clark.
“People just fall about themselves laughing when they see that was the great ‘gay’ allegation,” Clark said.
Clark has partly blamed the Exclusive Brethren for the smear campaign as they were allegedly the ones who campaigned to unseat Labour and also allegations that they hired a private detective to follow Davis, the church has denied having any involvement. Clark has said “the smear campaign against her husband had spread far too wide for it to be the work of the Brethren alone,” so she also blames Brash.
“I think the National Party has stooped to new levels with his leadership. I think we’re seeing the absolute desperation of, actually, the far Right in politics, which feels it has a right to rule, couldn’t cope with losing three elections in a row and there’s a desperation and nastiness about it and it will stoop to anything,” Clark said.
Brash said that he rejects and condemns the rumour-mongering and a spokesman said: “he [Brash] nor any of his MPs were involved in spreading them [rumours]. National believes the private lives of politicians and their families should be just that – private.”
A source for the National Party said that people had phoned in with the rumour and National told them to “go away.”
Gerry Brownlee, Deputy leader of National, denies any National Party involvement. He said: “Despite Don Brash coming under fire for admitting his marriage was in difficulties amid speculation he had an affair, National is not in a vengeful mode and rejects any such suggestion. The private lives of the families of MPs should be left out of the public eye.”
Media experts are passing off Investigate’s story as poor journalism. Including the head of New Zealand Broadcasting School, Paul Norris. Norris said: “The leader of a party has to expect their private life to impact on their leadership but in this case it seems Clark does not have a lot to answer to. The story has very little substance.”
Clark has denied that a meeting between Brash to discuss toning down personal attacks will take place. But does say a meeting between party representatives could be arranged.
Clark has told the New Zealand Police that she believes that they have been followed by private detectives. The police are yet to confirm that they are investigating the claim as of Monday morning. Clark said that she has been “told by a number of sources that private investigators have been hired to follow both herself and her husband, Professor Peter Davis.”

Rhinoplasty, is it more than cosmetic surgery???
by
zetterloo
Rhinoplasty (or Nose Refinement Surgery) is the most intricate cosmetic surgery performed today. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury and help relieve some breathing problems.
The best candidates for Rhinoplasty are people who are looking for improvement in the way they look, are physically healthy, psychologically stable, and have realistic expectations. During the initial consultation, the surgeon will evaluate the structure of your nose and face and discuss the possibilities for enhancement with you. The Doctor will also explain some factors that can influence the procedure and results. These factors include the structure of your nasal bones and cartilage, the shape of your face, the thickness of your skin, your age, and your expectations.Have you had Rhinoplasty before? Was it cosmetic or medical? Tell me about your results…
